I have been challenging my self to work in abstract ways. Using different mediums and subject matter. This is a mixed media piece using acrylic, collage and markers. 11x14 on linen.

Sorry to have pulled a disappearing act long, long ago. Life seems to have gotten in the way. Much has transpired since I last chatted with you!![]() We no longer live in Park City, Utah. We wanted a change of pace and are now in a small town on the west coast of Washington State, a city with the unique name of Sequim, (skwim). We have lived here for the last year and a half; having moved July of "22". We live within view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Mt. Baker, and also Victoria, Canada if it's a clear day. Most of the year here it is very temperate, today the 2nd of January 2024, it is a mild 46 Degrees and windy. No snow as of yet this year. Given all this the plants in our yard are very confused with the climate change. We have a Currant Bush in full bloom, Oriental Poppies all budded out. Nasturtiums still hanging in there from the summer and I noticed Daffodils beginning to emerge?? So weird! I have joined a wonderful group of artists in a co-op gallery, "The Blue Whole" and have made some great friends. My husband, Craig is very involved with 3 of the hiking groups in the area as well as doing backpacking trips in the U.S. and different areas of the world most months. My Art is making an interesting change here as well. I have begun doing some abstract landscapes as well as my animal portraits. Many new and exciting things to come stay tuned!
Some of you may ask what the heck is "Dog Camp"? Well remember back to when you were a kid and went to sleep away camp. That's pretty much what dog camp is except you bring your dog and have all kinds of dog activities. There is agility, paddleboarding, lure coursing, tracking, nose work, manners, even crafts, yep really dog related crafts honest, any way you get the idea. So we are going off for a about a week maybe a bit less. We do this every summer and our dogs love it and we have fun with them. Well this year it will be a different masks, social distancing and hopefully staying healthy. People come to camp from all over and hopefully we will all have fun I will let you know how it goes. Here are some of the paintings that I have been asked to do by friends at camp over the years. "Zeeta and Spice""Rocker""Lucy and Rocky" |
Well, for the past few winters I have complained, loudly, about our great dearth of snow in the ski town, known as Park City. This year however we seem to be having an almost normal winter! YAY!!!! What is normal? You might ask. Well it started snowing around Christmas, which was a bit late but hey snow is snow well..... we got 4 feet in a week. Whoopee! Yahoo! Even people in town that don't ski were excited! It got cold -21 F. but hey the snow was so light and powdery. Then it,.... no not that, it RAINED, for about 18 -24 hours. It just is not supposed to rain in Park City in the winter. Boo! Ice everywhere. Then yes, it was snowing again! Alright but wait the January thaw it was 45F. What? Now it is snowing again another 4 feet in a few days! But Alrighty! We may have an excellent winter yet, if it stops being so schizophrenic. Only Time and Old Man Winter will tell. |
Sorry, to have been absent for so long. We took an awesome trip to Morocco in Mid October till early November and have been wanting to tell you all about it. However on the way back I came down with a cold that turned into a sinus infection and then got run over by the Holidays. Almost healthy again and raring to get back into my art and writing. Here are a few photos to hopefully picque your interest.

Putting the yard and house in order for winter, the shorter days a precursor of the white stuff to come.
Last Wednesday driving home it was a white out Sept. 28th. Not totally unusual for Park City, to have snow in September, but it came on so quick that it was a bit of shock. A quick stop at the Farmer's Mkt. amidst the flurry of flakes falling trying to make purchases from all my favorites to thank them for being there in the snow.
Today 68 degrees F. Mowing the lawn planting the last few seeds and plants, getting the bed ready for the garlic this week. The last few tomatoes will be picked, planters tucked away. Deck furniture awaiting next summer's soirees.
We bid farewell to summer 2016, hoping for a bit more rain next year and a bit less dry heat.
